Captain Yash Dhull, who won India the title of 2022 Under-19 World Cup, is excited about playing the IPL this year and was bought at 50 lakhs this year by the Delhi Capitals team. Yash had scored a fine century in the Under-19 World Cup and after that continued his stellar form in the Ranji Trophy as well. Dhul has a few desires to play with cricketers’ favorite in his list.
Dhul, in his Ranji debut against Tamil Nadu, scored two centuries in two innings and explained why he is being counted among the best players of the times to come. Dhul told about IPL that he is very excited to face Jofra Archer. Archer has a good pace and makes great variations. However, Yash Dhul will have to wait another year for this. Archer will not play IPL this year due to injury and will hopefully join the MI in 2023. Mumbai has bought him for Rs 8 crore.
Getting an opportunity to meet the former test captain Virat Kohli, Dhul said that he was excited to meet and interact with Virat Kohli which took place just before the world cup against England (U-19) Dhul spoke about Kohli inspiring his team before the world cup. Dhul said – It was a wonderful moment. Virat Kohli shares his experience with us. After that, all the players were ready for the final.
The encouragement from VVS Laxman
The team benefited immensely from the presence of VVS Laxman, Chief of the National Cricket Academy, in our camp during the World Cup. Laxman shared his experience and motivated the young players to perform well on the field. Laxman taught them how to remain calm on the field and how and handle themselves during the match. Dhul said while they were suffering due to corona Laxman sir used to take full care of us and never let us get demotivated.
Dhull wants a partnership with David Warner
The young player expressed his desire to play with David Warner as his partner in the Delhi Capitals team however, this year Cricket Australia has denied permission to all their cricketer’s players till April 6th for which conversations are taking place. He also expressed his desire to meet and play under coach Ricky Ponting.
Before Dhul, only two Indian batsmen were able to score centuries in both the innings of their first Ranji match which is Nari Contractor (152 and 102 runs in 1952/53), and in 2012/13, Virag Awate from Maharashtra (126 and 112 runs). Yash Dhul has surpassed the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Sachin also scored a century in his first Ranji match, but he could not achieve this feat in both innings.
