In the recent South Africa Cricket match against India, India lost the battle. Its big blow has hit the entire Indian team including Virat. The Indian cricket team had a lot of expectations from this match. As captain, Virat Kohli had a double responsibility.

It was Kohli’s dream to win the series by playing together under his captaincy. It was Kohli’s 99th test match in his cricket career and he has to perform well in it. With that in mind, he worked hard and practiced. Kohli wanted to give the country another victory by scoring a century in this match. But that did not happen. So now, disappointed, Virat Kohli has resigned as captain in Test cricket. Since then, all eyes have been on who will be the next contender for the post after Kohli.

Virat Kohli left the captaincy of the Test cricket team 2 days ago. He has already stepped down from this responsibility in T20 and ODI. In such a situation, the question is bound to arise that who will take over the command of the Test team after him. By the way, Rohit Sharma was made the vice-captain of the Test team for the South Africa tour. But he could not go on this tour due to injury and this responsibility was entrusted to KL Rahul in his place who captained the team in the second Test in Johannesburg when Virat Kohli was injured.

Since then, there is a discussion about who will be the next Test captain of India? Will Rohit Sharma handle this responsibility in all three formats or will BCCI hand over this responsibility in Tests to KL Rahul or any other player considering his workload. In the midst of these questions, such reports are coming out that BCCI will hand over the Test captaincy to Rohit Sharma. His name has been decided. Soon it will be formally announced.

Now, let’s wait for that time when BCCI announces the final name of the new captain of the Test Cricket team. It is reported that BCCI will confirm the name of Rohit Sharma after the One Day Series against South Africa which will be starting on 19th January 2022.

The official statement from BCCI has arrived in the cricket world, stating, “There is no doubt that Rohit Sharma will be India’s new Test captain. Rohit was made the vice-captain of the team before the tour of South Africa. Now that Virat has given up the captaincy, Rohit will be promoted as the Test captain. It will be announced soon.”

Rohit Sharma will have to look after his health

“The selectors will also talk to Rohit about his workload and fitness issues. If he is made the Test captain, then his workload will increase significantly. Because he has recently been given the captaincy of both T20 and ODI formats. In such a situation, Rohit will need to keep himself very agile and fit. I think the selectors will talk to him. He will have to work extra on his fitness.” – BCCI. Rohit Sharma will take a charge as a captain of the Test series against Sri Lanka that is to be held in the mid of February and March 2022 and it will be his first official match as a new captain of the Indian Test Cricket Team.
