Imagine a very talented young boy with a great future in sports, especially cricket, and once you enter the game fate has probably decided something else for you. Something similar happened with some of the greatest cricketers in the history of cricket. Let’s look at:

Saba Karim – Syed Saba Karim is one of the best cricketers in the history of cricket but with an unfortunate cricketing career. The right-handed batsmen and wicketkeeper never got a chance to play for international cricket then but once he got this golden opportunity to play for West Indies in 1989 and play as a reserve wicketkeeper. He got a golden opportunity once again against South Africa in 1996.

Again in a match in 2000 against the South African team, the player suffered a major setback which ended the career of the batsmen. During the delivery of Anil Kumble in the match where Saba Karim got severely hurt as being the wicketkeeper, where the ball hit the player’s right eye and suffered permanently impaired vision. The setback effectively ended his cricketing career as Karim underwent eye surgery.

Stuart McGill – One of the very aggressive players between the 1990s and early 2000s. He was perhaps the best bowler of that times to take wickets even more than Warne at the time of there playing. McGill was the second best spinner and was allowed to play only when Warne wasn’t available. McGill made his debut in 1998 and enjoyed moments that made headlines especially against England and Pakistan, but as soon as the news spread that Warne was retiring from cricket, McGill was all set to pick up the baton and run He was ready, but his return was hampered by frequent injuries and poor health, which eventually led to his retirement.

Mohammad Amir – He entered the cricket world at the age of just 17 as a fast bowler with the ability to swing the ball both ways (off/leg side). During his international cricket career, he troubled many international batsmen with his bowling style. The great player of that time, Wasim Akram had also praised Amir for being a smarter player than himself. Unfortunately, in the 2010 spot-fixing controversy, Amir’s name was specifically involved, which led to him being convicted of the offense and suspended from cricket for 5 years which eventually ended his career.

Vinod Kambli – As a cricketer, Vinod Kamli started his cricket career by scoring one double century after Australia’s Don Bradman and England’s Walter Hammond and the top Indian player to reach or accomplish 1000 runs (Test) .His downfall started because of his extravagant lifestyle which gradually started changing the perception of the people towards him. Kambli was a man of controversies and he never got rid of it. He was also involved in several match-fixing issues which ended the career of the legendary player.

In short, no player seen above had similar level of being unlucky although some were chosen where some chose to be, sounds crazy but is a fact.
