England emerged victorious at Edgbaston Stadium. The win came after Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow scored 142* and 114* runs respectively. Root smashed 19 boundaries and a sixer whereas Bairstow was seen in the similar fashion hitting 15 fours and a sixer. Together they accumulated 269 run partnership which was for the fourth over.
Although at one point both the batsmen were intimidated by skipper pacer Jasprit Bumrah on the fourth day of their show, the two were stronger in their minds and came back stronger than before to follow their game plan. For the England team it was the highest ever chase since in 2019 when they chased 359 and now, they did it by surpassing it by 378 runs.
England needed 119 runs in 20 overs on the fifth day which both of them knew how to do.
After a win by the English team, the next thing that even English cricket knew very well was the return gift. Yes, you heard it right!! The return gift we are talking about here was the gesture that Virat Kohli gave on the third day of the match towards Jonny Bairstow in form of an exchange of words. England Cricket can be seen taking a slight dig with the win they made but a wittier one on Virat Kohli through there official Twitter handle, in which he can be seen asking Johnny to shut up, while in the second image he is seen hugging Johnny.
