IPL is the biggest platform for cricketers from all over the world. The format has been designed in such a way that all the cricket players from almost all the nations can take part in the tournament. But you can say it is a destiny that some players got auctioned and get bought by the franchise but there are many players who have never gotten auctioned or bought in the IPL. And if we speak about the Pakistani players, the players from Pakistan are not allowed in IPL.
Recently, in the “Rawalpindi Express”, Shoaib Akhtar has expressed his wish to see Virat Kohli and Babar Azam play together in IPL.
But it is unfortunate that neither Virat Kohli played in the Pakistan Super League nor did Babar get the opportunity to feature in the IPL. Behind this, political reasons between the two countries have created a barrier. But the former pacer from Pakistan Shoaib Akhtar wants to see the two play together in the IPL.
On the occasion of IPL’s inaugural, Akhtar was representing Kolkata Night Riders. On that day, he expresses this wish while speaking to the media. He said,
“It would be great to see Babar Azam and Virat Kohli playing together in the IPL. How nice it would be if they open the innings in the IPL one day,”
Further, he said that, if Babar could get the place in the auction at IPL, he would easily fetch Rs 15-20 Cr. In fact, if Pakistan players are allowed to feature in the IPL, Babar could easily be one of the highest-paid players.
In the auction, Babar would go for 15-20 crore,” Akhtar claimed.
Babar is the top T20 player in the world who is leading Pakistan against Australia in the ongoing three-match ODI series currently.
Whereas we see, the talented batsman and former captain of Indian cricket team Virat Kohli is representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the current season of IPL and performing the role of a key player like always.
We hope, Akhtar’s wish come true in the near future when all the barriers between the two countries will vanish.
