Corey Anderson, former New Zealand’s hard hitter, has recently heaped praises on the current Indian skipper calling him the best to watch. Corey Anderson who was also part of the two-world cups in his initial days (2008 and 2010), said that he believes in Rohit’s abilities and who has to look within to understand what needs to be done. Look at what he said while speaking to the news channel, News18,
“If Rohit does as he can, they’ll win more games than not.” When he’s on fire, he’s one of the most exciting players to watch. He just makes it look so easy, and he makes batting look so easy.”
He further added,
“I believe he should look within himself and do what he needs to do. I know the rest of that team admires and supports him. So they’re going to do pretty well if he does what he can,”
Currently, the Indian squad is out to Australia and are in great form when it comes to their depth batting order. It is interesting to see how Rohit Sharma has led the Indian team so far, winning matches after another. But the credit doesn’t go alone to the skipper himself but the coach, Rahul Dravid, who kept on experimenting and implementing new strategies right after IPL got finished. The Team India you see now compared to the former days, is more aggressive when it comes to his striking abilities with both bat and ball, and which is good because if look at the world cup season in 2021, except three batsmen KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, there was nobody to hold the team, same in 2017 champions trophy and the 2019s ODI world cup.
But heroes are those who know how to overcome issues based on their past mistakes and that’s what team India has been doing lately.
But coming back to the main news of Corey Anderson, it seems very clear that he spoke all in the context of the upcoming T20 World Cup held in Australia praising the skipper. But from a different angle if we see, things look a bit different.
The New Zealander left hander, Corey Anderson took retirement from the international cricket in 2020 due to continued injuries but we also know that since 2018, the all-rounder hasn’t been part of any leagues.
In 2020, Anderson got a chance to play in the Kathmandu Kings XI which is Nepal’s topmost T20 franchise but with the emergence of COVID -19 at its full power, the tournament had to be canceled leaving no hopes left for the player.
In 2018, it was the last time he was seen playing in the IPL (Royal Challengers Bangalore) but his unexpected performance led him to get dropped from the rest of the innings. Currently, Corey has associated himself with the US based Major League Cricket in order to lead US in the international competition with signing a three year’s contract.
So, the reason why Corey dropped comments for the Indian skipper, we leave it up to you to decide!!
