Veteran India player Ajinkya Rahane, who drove India to the noteworthy Test series win in Australia during Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21, reviewed an occurrence that occurred at the Gabba in Brisbane where Shardul Thakur’s batting had left Rohit Sharma seething.

Shardul Thakur played an exceptional thump for India in the main innings of the series decider of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 at the Gabba. Shardul had a splendid organization with Washington Sundar and he crushed 67 runs off 115 balls, including 9 fours and 2 sixes.

However, in the second innings during the 328-run pursuit Shardul, who emerged to bat after the excusals of Mayank Agarwal and Washington Sundar, played a rash shot off Josh Hazlewood’s delivery to get dismissed for 2.

In the interim, Rahane uncovered that Rohit had told Shardul when he was going on a mission to bat, that this was his chance of turning into a legend. Be that as it may after the all-rounder got out Rohit was fuming.

“Shardul Thakur was walking in when Washington got out. Rohit told him ‘This is your opportunity of becoming a hero’. And he just nodded and left,” Rahane said on the documentary Bandon Mein Tha Dum streaming on VOOT.

R Ashwin added and said:

“As he was about to go, Rohit said, “Shardul, finish it”. This is exactly what he said, I totally understand Shardul. He would have imagined… ‘like how Ravi bhai said, Dhoni hits a six and wins the World Cup’. So inside Shardul’s head, he has already figured out the moment, the commentary, the book the movie, everything. So Shardul’s gone for it, it’s gone to short square leg and got out. And everybody inside is like “What are you doing?”

Rahane Further Said:

“Rohit was sitting next to me. He said, ‘let the match get over, let us win, I will teach him a lesson’. I said ‘forget it, we’ll see once the match is over’.”
