Earlier, Ashwin expressed happiness over becoming the second highest Test wicket-taker for India. He said, ‘I feel very humbled, 28 years ago I was cheering for Kapilpaaji with my father, when he surpassed Richard Hadlee’s record.’
Ashwin said on his official YouTube channel, ‘I never thought of exceeding his number of wickets. Because I always wanted to be a batsman, especially when I started at the age of eight, my intention was to become a batsman, at that time Sachin Tendulkar was emerging in world cricket while Kapil Dev was a brilliant striker.
