  • The former Indian pacer RP Singh believes that Rohit shouldn’t have been dropped from the 5 match T20 series against South Africa

From June 9th, the Indian national team is going to clash against the South African side planning to make difference beforehand the T20 world cup begin in October. The Indian team will be as host and the South African team will be coming to India. The match will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

The major point of attraction during this series is that the Rohit Sharma including the likes of Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah has been dropped from the series whereas KL Rahul has been declared the captain of the tournament.

But before the series has even started, the former Indian pacer, RP Singh has raised concerns over the non-inclusion of Rohit Sharma saying that he should have played the series. He said,

“I think he should have played the series. To rest or not to rest is their personal opinion. But it depends on how tired he is feeling. But I don’t think he needed to take a break. They should have played. It is a long series and remember that he is the captain of the team”

He further added,

‘For the last few seasons, Rohit has not been able to score more than 400 runs in the IPL. But there are many batsmen who have crossed the 400-run mark. There was no consistency in Rohit’s performance. RP Singh further said that in the series against South Africa, he would play some match-winning innings”

Further speaking about Virat and Bumrah, Singh suggested that the non-inclusion of the two can impact the performance of the team.

Everybody knows how the IPL has gone for the 5-times IPL champions, Mumbai Indians, but more important to know is that the, the skipper himself hasn’t showed his skills or experience or batting skills. In the entire IPL series, Rohit Sharma has only been able to score 268 runs for his team and hasn’t played the captain’s role as expected.

Indian T20 squad:
