Ishan Kishan, who is a specialist batter at No. 3 for the Indian National team, makes some shocking statements after knocking 93 run innings against the Proteas. Unfortunately, the player this time also missed his maiden international century, by Seven Runs and we say “this time also” because in 2020, Ishan Kishan while playing for the Mumbai Indians team, missed a similar kind of opportunity by 1 runs.

But the player seems chill and said,

“We needed five off two balls and I got out for 99 in the IPL. If I thought about rotating the strike, then it would have been difficult to win.”

Coming back to the main center of attraction which shocked the audiences. Ishan said he feels more comfortable hitting sixes and it makes sense for him to concentrate on rotating strike which he means by singles.

“Rotate karne ki jaha tak baat hai toh wo kuch players ka strength hota hai, kini ka strength hota hai chhakka marna. Toh mere jaisa koi chhakka bhi itni jaldi nahi maar sakta, main bohut asaani se maarta hu. Wo mera strength hai. Toh agar main chhakke se hi kar leta hu kaam toh rotate ka utna sochta nahi hu”

Meaning,

“Some players have the strength to rotate the strike, my strength is to hit sixes. I hit sixes effortlessly and not many can do that. If I do the job by hitting sixes, there’s no need to think about rotating the strike much,”

He further continued by saying,

“But ha bohut se aise innings ayenge jaha pe rotation bhi zaroori hoga, jaha pe wickets pahle girr gaye honge toh uske lie bhi practice karna zaroori hai but agar strength chhakka hai aur ball hai maarne layak toh maaro chhakka”

“If your strength is hitting sixes then go for it, what’s the need of rotating the strike just for the sake of it. But yes there will be time when rotating the strike would be key with wickets falling at the other end,”

Well, Ishan is a modern-day batter, and knows what he says, and what he can do. We should understand that we are not looking at the old indian team, but that Indian team which doesn’t shy away from bold statements as Ishan did quite easily. And why not, when at the end of the day it is he who is confident and is displaying results that everybody wants.

Currently, one segment of the team is left for the biggest event i.e. T20 World Cup, whereas there is another segment that is running under the leadership of the veteran Shikhar Dhawan, and other boys such as Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad to name a few.
