The AISSC cricket selection committee has decided to name the new vice captain of the Indian test team which will be KL Rahul (Vice Captain) for the 3rd upcoming test match with South Africa. Rohit Sharma has been replaced by KL Rahul as being the newest vice-captain; Due to hamstring injury during a practice session in Mumbai, Rohit Sharma had been made seated outside for a while.

The 29-year-old has played 40 Tests so far and scored 2321 runs at an average of 35.16, including six centuries. Importantly, he is seen as a long-term potential leader in the days to come. It was difficult for the selectors to go back to Rahane, who is no longer a surety, and would probably be too untimely for Rishabh Pant to be the next vice-captain of the Indian national team. Rahul, at present, is seen as one of the few all-format specialist batsmen.

Rahul has the right experience and age to be named as the Vice Captain of Indian cricket team He (KL Rahul) has the right ability to stay on being the VC for a longer period.

India’s Test team will consist of;

  • Virat Kohli (Captain)
  • Mayank Agarwal
  • KL Rahul (Vice-Captain)
  • Cheteshwar Pujara
  • Priyank Panchal
  • Ajinkya Rahane
  • Shreyas Iyer
  • Rishabh Pant (WK)
  • Hanuma Vihari
  • R Ashwin
  • Wriddhiman Saha (WK). -Keeper)
  • Ishant Sharma
  • Jayant Yadav
  • Umesh Yadav
  • Mohd. Shami
  • Shardul Thakur
  • Jasprit Bumrah
  • Mohammad Siraj

Meanwhile, the Indian team was seen warming playing foot volley after reaching South Africa on Friday morning. The first Test against South Africa starts on 26 December.

The dynamics inside Indian cricket may seem a bit disturbing at the present time, but keeping in mind the upcoming schedule, the players are trying their best to make the SA series count. In a recent event, the Indian cricketer (Former) Aakash Chopra said that Ajinkya Rahane may find it hard finding place in the team XI as of now. As Rahul’s vice-captain, Rahane’s place in the Test XI is in doubt considering his long lean patch.

Chopra further said that Rahul can be named as the deputy in ODIs as well as things are changing at a fast pace in Indian cricket. Born and bought up in karnatka, KL Rahul completed his studies from the prestigious National Institute of Technology, same in Karnataka, where his father is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering.

He completed his schooling at NITK and developed a keen interest in cricket. After starting out with batting in the grassless college ground, Rahul’s parents saw a spark in him and decided that he would have to get formal training to realize his talent. Rahul rose through the ranks of Under-19 cricket and broke into the Karnataka first-class and had a decent debut season in 2010–11. He was dropped for the next season, but returned for the 2012–13 season, in which he had excellent form, becoming the season’s highest run-scorer, conditioning himself for the highest honour.
