On 15th January 2022, after defeating South Africa, Virat Kohli resigned from the post of captain in the test cricket.
The captaincy is always an important responsibility but no player’s mind is diminished by not getting it or leaving it when they get it. This is clear from the decision taken by Virat Kohli.
In cricket, Virat Kohli has done better than a captain as a player. If Kohli had forgotten the game in the heat of the day, he would not have been successful. In it, he has encouraged many players who are younger than him as a senior, giving them a chance to play while building their confidence. So there is ungratefulness in the minds of other players about him which everyone expressed in their words on social media.
Virat Kohli may have given up the captaincy of the Indian Test team, but his respect remains the same as it was. Virat Kohli brought forward many players during his captaincy and today each of them is representing India. Mohammad Siraj is one of them. Recently, Siraj openly praised his captain on social media. He ended his long post by saying that “Virat Kohli will always be my captain.”
Indian pace bowler Mohammad Siraj posted on social media on Tuesday. He wrote, ‘For your superhero. It is not enough to say thank you for the support and encouragement that I have received from you. You have always been like my elder brother. Thank you for trusting me…. King Kohli (Virat Kohli) you will always be my captain.
Mohammad Siraj started his international career in 2017 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. It was a T20 match, which was played against New Zealand in Rajkot. Siraj then played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL under Kohli’s leadership. He also played the first ODI match in 2020 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. In December this year, he got a chance to make his Test debut on the tour of Australia. Since then Siraj has come a long way and is now a regular member of the Test team. He has played 12 test matches so far. In Team India, he has started getting preference over Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav, who played 100 Tests. After Siraj, many other players have been expressed their feelings about Kohli. Just as Mohammad Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh pant have written good words for Kohli. Along with the teammates, the president of BCCI Saurav Ganguly has also called him inspiring captain of the team.
