In the match played between Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings, the Kings suffered a humiliating defeat while playing against their rival Gladiators. It was a humiliating start for the kings. The match was played on Saturday at the National Stadium in Karachi.
The team was given a solid start by Sharjeel Khan, where he scored 43 off 31 balls, but despite a brilliant start from Sharjeel, the Kings fell on his face after seeing Sharjeel towards the pavilion. From the other end, Babar Azam played some decent game with 23 off 29 balls, followed by M Nabi (10 off 17) and Joe Clarke (26 off 24). Despite 4 big shots, the players gave their best and the team had to look straight at the loss and said yes we are coming.
The Karachi players worked hard to bounce back from their disastrous start with the bowling, but eventually had to back off for another defeat. M. Nabi was seen taking two crucial wickets in his 3.2 overs spell, but that was not enough for the team to win any. Other bowlers like M Imran and A Yameen were not successful at all and failed to take any wickets for the team. So in short and overall, not only the batting but also the bowling end of Karachi Kings was disastrous which could not deliver any win.
Quetta Gladiators, on the other hand, are looking forward to a good start this year, led by Sarfaraz Ahmed. James Vince and Jason Roy are the big hitters in the team this year but unfortunately they will be available for the opening tournament due to England’s commitment. As a partial replacement, Shimron Hetmyer has replaced Jason Roy this year. The Gladiators will be relying on the services of Ben Duckett, who is in excellent form at the moment. He is coming into the series on the basis of his excellent performance in the BBL tournament.
In the middle order, Quetta Gladiators have got players like Iftikhar Ahmed, Dan Lawrence and Sarfaraz Ahmed, and including Hetmyer, these four have the ability to play well in the middle overs and take the team to a strong score.
Despite all the negative news for Karachi Kings, they have been hoping as a team for a long time and the news is that Mohammad Amir is well again and has completely recovered from his hamstring injury due to which the player was seen out of action all these games. The 2017 Champions Trophy winner will be hoping to make amends for Karachi with ball in hand as his performance in the PSL has not been up to the mark since his shocking retirement from international cricket in December 2020.
