Jhulan Goswami To Bid Farewell To Cricket At Lord’s

India’s woman fast bowler Jhulan Goswami is set to make the announcement of her retirement from international cricket after the third ODI at Lord’s in the ahead England Tour. The match is scheduled to be held on September 24, she will leave an impression on the English land (the origin of cricket land)of the highest wicket-taker in women’s internationals, with 352 wickets across formats.

A top official of BCCI said,

“The third One-Day International against England Women at Lord’s will be her (Jhulan Goswami) last.”

Goswami, the 39-year-old, has not been taken into the Indian team that participated in the first-ever women’s T20 cricket in the Commonwealth Games at Birmingham. The team finished their CWG campaign with a Silver a few weeks ago. Her last appearance in Blue Women was in the ODI world Cup in March in New Zealand. She was also not picked in the Indian team which played in Sri Lanka in July of this year.

Goswami, who was ruling out the Indian team because of her full fitness, has been included in the Indian ODI squad for England tour. An official said, “She was in line to tour Sri Lanka in July, but missed out due to fitness issues. She only regained full fitness in mid-July and was included in the squad for England tour following clearance from the National Cricket Academy medical staff.”

The official stated, “The BCCI is keen on giving her a proper farewell at Lord’s.”

The All India Selection Committee picked these players in Indian women squad for England tour.

For ODI: Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain), Smriti Mandhana (Vice-Captain), Shafali Verma, Sabbineni Meghana, Deepti Sharma, Taniyaa Sapna Bhatia (WK), Yastika Bhatia (WK), Pooja Vastrakar, Sneh Rana, Renuka Thakur, Meghna Singh, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Harleen Deol, DayalanHemalatha, Simran Dil Bahadur, Jhulan Goswami, Jemimah Rodrigues.

For T20: Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain), Smriti Mandhana (Vice-captain), Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, Jemimah Rodrigues, Sneh Rana, Renuka Thakur, Meghna Singh, Radha Yadav, Sabbineni Meghana, Taniyaa Sapna Bhatia (WK), Rajeshwari Gayakwad, DayalanHemalatha, Simran Dil Bahadur, Richa Ghosh (WK), K.P.
