This TATA IPL season seems a record-breaking season for the Mumbai Indians. But these records are just opposite to what you are thinking. Mumbai Indians team being the 5-time IPL champions has become the first team to lose seven, yes you heard it right, seven matches in a trot achieving a new record or “Kirtiman” (Sounds better in hindi).
The ground breaking achievement made by the blue team came after the help offered by the former CSK Skipper Dhoni and teammates.
Are thinking that the record making is over? You are completely wrong, because Rohit Sharma as individual has made a record for himself too i.e., getting out on duck for the 14th time in history. The right hander became the player to achieve this feat surpassing former Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla, and Parthiv Patel.
Interestingly, all these above-mentioned names or players except for Rohit Sharma are sitting as commentators in the IPL league 2022.
Before the match even started, crowds were super-duper excited about it. Even Harbhajan Singh could not resist himself by commenting that the match between the duo feels like match happening between India & Pakistan.
“It felt strange when I first wore the CSK jersey after sitting in the Mumbai Indians dressing room for 10 years. For me, both the teams have been very special. The match between these two IPL giants gives the feeling of an India-Pakistan contest due to the rivalry factor and the level of competition.”
The match began at 7:30 sharp in the evening and the toss went in favour of the CSK team. Following the ritual of the current season IPL, the CSK choose to bowl and gave the MI teams the opportunity to set the target but who knew that a yet another record is waiting for the Mumbai Indians to be made.
The Mumbai Indians didn’t start well and on the first ball itself, the skipper setting an example for other players, played a beautiful shot directly into the hands of the mid wicker fielder and got caught. This is when the history of getting out for duck (O) the 14th time the skipper achieved for himself. After this the captain headed straight towards the pavilion stands probably to have some drinks again and enjoying the match. Then on the fourth ball of the same over was Ishan Kishan, who everybody must have seen him on twitter and by other social media channels hitting the gym and making optimum use of barbells, was bowled, in fact“clean bowled” by a superb yorker delivered by Mukesh Chowdhary and bringing the striker down on his knees. What a Start!! By the CSKians.
To give some work to the bowlers, the efforts made by Tilak Sharma (51 off 43 balls), Suryakumar Yadav (32 off 21) and Hrithik Shokeenhelped the MI team to reach the decent target of 155/7.
Its not only MI’s batting order faced issues with bat, in fact the CSKs too, but as there is a saying “All is well if end is well”suits the best for the CSK side.
Fabulous innings by Dwaine Pretorius (22 off 14), and specially Dhoni (28* off 13) helped CSK team to win the battle against the MIs and jumping on the ninth position; Not best, not shameful too!!
Wasn’t it Interesting!!
Well, the CSK team are going to face Punjab Kings in another match on Monday, April 25th and indeed must be an exciting one.
