Despite losing the toss, the DC team gave the pink team the chance to advance with the bat but who knew that the DC team’s decision would be fatal for them.In response the RR team came out to bat and for the first 50 runs the two batsmen Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal looked calm and formed a partnership from since then they were seen smashing 4s and 6s across the stadium and building a partnership of 155 runs together.
The partnership broke down when a beautiful delivery from Khaleel Ahmed sent Devdutt back for lbw. It was a long call from the bowler which was eventually settled by the DRS. Devdutt was dismissed for 54 runs in 35 balls and completed his half-century.
Then came Sanju Samson who shared a good partnership with Jos Buttler and helped taking the run total to 188 losing just 1 wicket. The RR team could probably could have not achieved the run total, if in the 5th ball of the 18th over the catch wasn’t missed by the bowler Khaleel himself, which was easy one.
Jos Buttler walked off the pitch after his brilliant innings of 116 off 65 balls when he was caught between deep-wicket and long-on.But in the end, it was skipper Sanju and the always smiling Shimron Hetmyer, who crossed the boundary in the last few balls to make a total of 222 runs taking 8 wickets.
Enjoy the good times! Loving every second with this team 💗 pic.twitter.com/uBXwWJBqD5

Whereas the DC team on the other end with its three batsmen skipper Rishabh Pant (44 off 24), Lalit Yadav (37 off 24) and Prithvi Shaw (37 off 27), could not chase the run made by the Rajasthan Royals and reached only 207 losing 8 wickets.
More than the innings of Jos Butler and run scored, the match was more in highlight for its unpredictable uproar that emerged out of the DC team. In the last 6 balls when the DC required 36 runs, out of which Rowan Powell already hit 3 sixers. The issue began on the 3rd last ball when the umpire did give it as NO-BALL, and fumed at the event, the DC team backlashed the decision and the entire episode brought a halt to the entire game for a few minutes.
Noticing the hamper, IPL issued three different fines for the ones participated in breaching the code of conduct which includes:
- Rishabh Pant who was fined 100 percent of this match fee
- Shardul Thakur, who was fined 50 percent of his match fee, and
- The asst. coach Pravin Amre, with 100 percent of the match fee and a ban for one match.
Based on news reports, the three accepted for breaching the level 2 category of conduct and accepted the penalty.

Well, the entire match was exciting and we would appreciate the DC team as well who gave a tough fight to the RR team despite facing COVID issues inside their team with approximately 5 personnel including a player and coach got affected.
