The BCCI is expected to receive an amount of over Rs 40,000 crore for the media rights of 5 years by social and eCommerce giants like Disney Star, Reliance, Amazon, and Sony.
Now let’s have clarity on the way these matches are going to be conducted.
10 teams will play a total of 14 league matches where each team will play 5 teams twice and the remaining 4 teams only once. To understand clearly, there will be two groups, and for each group, there will remain 5 teams each. The two group teams are decided based on the number of championships they have played in their final matches.
Have a look at the Virtual group below to understand well:
Group A | Group B | ||
MI(5) | 1 | CSK(4) | 2 |
KKR(2) | 3 | SRH(I) | 4 |
RR(I) | 5 | RCB | 6 |
DC | 7 | PBKS | 8 |
LSG | 8 | GT | 10 |
To summarize, every team will have to play twice with the two teams from their own group whereas the same team has to also place with the team from the other group (in the same row) which will be only once during the season, and every team will have to follow the same guideline.
So, you see this year is going to be exciting and when you see how complicated the structure is, but one thing is for sure the more complicated it will be, the best it will showcase in the end. This IPL season is going to be the best season expectedly because unlike last year you’ll not find veterans but new blood with new energy and enthusiasm.
