Jordan Thompson has been reportedly approached by two Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises before the mini-auction for the 2023 season. The English bowling all-rounder hogged the limelight with his crucial performances in the Hundred.
The IPL 2023 mini-auction will take place in December 2022 in Bengaluru.
Before that, the franchises began signing players they aim for the next season, and as per their expectations Thomson, the right arm-medium fast is one the best choice. According to a report in dailymail.co.uk, two IPL franchises have approached him. Not only Thompson, but the right-arm off-break Will Jack, and Will Smeed are also in special focus.
Nothing has been confirmed from the franchises and player sides officially, and they can only participate in the IPL auction if they are listed among the athletes for the single-day competition. Before the auction, the final list is trimmed, and not all of the names are revealed at the time.
Thompson, the 26-year-old, who has been reportedly contacted by two IPL franchises has 74 wickets in total of 78 T20 matches. The emerging superstar has an economy rate of 9.45. He has dismissed 108 batsmen in 34 first-class games.
He came to view in special focus after his astonishing performances in ‘The Hundred 2022’ as 14 wickets in 9 matches with an incredible economy rate of 9.14. His figures in the 100-ball tournament may be an orientation to IPL 2023.
