As Rohit Sharma did not get success to score high and he has achieved the target of 108 runs at an average of 21.60 in IPL 2022. In the context of this, head coach Mahela Jayawardene said that he is not concerned about skipper Rohit Sharma’s batting performance in the IPL 2022. He has amassed 108 runs in five innings at 21.60 and a strike rate of 133.33.
The Jayawardene did not praise the player as he was disappointed somewhere but he has faith in Sharma as he has that kind of potential to stand up and prove that again.
Jayawardene was talking in the post-match press conference.
“If you look at the way he starts, the way he hits the ball, it’s brilliant. He’s timing it, he’s getting some really, really good starts. Yes, he’s disappointed as well, that he’s not being able to convert them,”
Further, he said,
“We’ve seen Rohit batting deep, batting for 14-15 overs and getting those big scores. It’s just a matter of time. He’s a quality player and I am not concerned about the form as such.”
Jayawardene also talked about the capabilities of Dewald Brevis and TilakVerma.
At one point, Dewald Brevis and TilakVermahad successfully chased the third wicket with 84 runs in partnership. Dewald was very aggressive as he hit the 4 fours in 25 balls and 5 sixes. He scored 28 runs against the spinner Rahul Chahar of Punjab Kings.

The MI head coach said.
“The two young guys, we know what they are capable of. So give them a bit of freedom to go and control that situation, so that Polly and Surya are able to chase that. That was the initial thinking. It’s a call that we will take depending on how we’ve set up tactically against certain opposition,”
