In a major shakedown, yet again the Indian team smashed the West Indies team in the T20I match held at the Brain Lara Cricket Stadium by 68 runs.

After coming to bat the Indian side looked aggressive from the very beginning and scored 190 runs with the loss of 6 wickets. In scoring this massive target runs, the contribution of the captain Rohit Sharma (64 off 44), Dinesh Karthik (41* off 19), and Suryakumar Yadav’s fantastic innings played an important role.

Well, coming to bat, West Indies did just the opposite. It was not like the target was not achievable but the ability to withstand the Indian bowling attack was something, west Indies team failed against. The top three from the Caribbean side were Sharmarh Brooks ( 20 off 15), then Keemo Paul (19 off 22) and then Nicholas Pooran (18 off 15).

Dinesh Karthik was declared the Player of the Match.

From the bowling end, from India it was Ravichandran Ashwin, who took 2 wickets giving 22 runs, whereas, the young lad Arsheep Singh took 2 wickets as well giving 24 runs, same the previous two, even Ravi Bishnoi, managed to take 2 wickets but he gave 26 runs.

From the Caribbeans side, the bowling attack to some extent was good from Alzari Joseph who took 2 wickets but was less economical in the match. Akeal Hosein and Keemo Paul on the other hand grabbed 1 wicket each giving 14 and 24 respectively.

So overall batting and bowling performance from the West Indies was extremely poor, but vice versa for India who not only banged well with bat but also bowled well in the innings.

Now the Ind vs WI second T20I match will be held at the Warner Park Stadium, and will take place directly on August 1st. By winning the match India has taken a lead of 1-0. There are 4 matches remaining.
