ICC remembers its champions trophy tournament from 2013, where the India team were the champions. Indian team on the same day (23rd June) won the most prestigious title in cricket and that was the ICC Championship Trophy in 2013. ICC remembering the day, took it to the social media of the glorious day when the new champions emerged in the form of Indian and not any western nation.
It was really a day of celebration when the entire team can be seen enjoying every moment of the game and lifting up the trophy under the guidance and leadership of MS Dhoni.
The final ODI match that was reduced to 20 overs due to rain, the Indian team somehow with help of Virat Kohli (43 off 34), Ravindra Jadeja (33* off 25) and not the least Shikhar Dhawan’s (31 off 24 )fantastic innings were able to sustain the England bowling attack. However, there came a time when the English were seen able to surpass the innings made by India but life saving bowling attack from Ishant Sharma by taking wickets of Eoin Morgan and Ravi Bopara in the 18th over was something worth remembering because if he didn’t then, we would have not celebrated the achievement as we are doing right now.
Currently, at least not the ICC championship but the two team, India and England are going to clash again from July 1st onwards comprising of a test, 3 match T20I series and a 2 match ODI series. The tournament between the two teams will be a crucial one as they both will want to be in the ICC T20I World Cup list point table at the top which the England team is currently topping being at Number No. 1.
The England team smashed the Dutch team (Netherland) in all the three games of ODI. In the first game, they made a grandeur total of 498/4, which they won by a record 232 runs. Similarly, in the second ODI match against Netherland, the English marked their victory by again 6 wickets which indeed was a good margin to count upon. Not the least, almost the similar thing took place in the third ODI between the two, where the English won the match by 8 wickets, for which credit goes to Jason Roy’s century innings.
Well, the Indian side will be facing the Ireland team in a two match T20I series, starting from June 26th and seeing an end on June 28th. Then following will be the remaining fifth test match between India and England starting from July 1 – July 5th.
