The T20 match between India and West Indies is going to start from tomorrow which will be from February 16. In a major reshuffle in the team, Rishabh Pant will be seen as the new vice-captain of the Indian cricket team. The announcement was made after KL Rahul was ruled out due to a hamstring injury.
Since the last ODI which was the third and final match between India and West Indies, KL Rahul was ruled out due to his injury and is yet to recover from it. The BCCI recently announced that Rishabh Pant will be the new vice-captain of the Indian cricket team and Kuldeep Yadav has also been included in the Indian team.
After this decision came to the fore, many fans expressed their displeasure over it. Fans on the internet said that Rishabh does not deserve to be the captain. Fans especially on Twitter highlighted his performance abilities in the limited over’s format, while some believed that the layer has some good connections in the authority (BCCI) that is helping him to soar before required.
This will be the first time that Rishabh will lead a team completely, but for your information, let us tell you that last year a similar (though for a shorter period) situation came in front of the player, where he was appointed as the interim captain for the team. Rishabh’s appointment was to guide the team in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, who was dropped in the middle of that season.
The player’s appointment made such an impact that even after Iyer’s return, Rishabh continued to be the captain of the Delhi Capitals team.
Two players will not be visible for tomorrow’s match between India and West Indies, first, you all know KL Rahul and the second player is Axar Patel. However, they will be replaced by two more names known as Deepak Hooda and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Rishabh Pant has been a great player and he is seen as the captain of Indian cricket one day. Despite the changes, the team is going through especially after the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE. The southpaw is being seen as a major contender for the vice-captain or captain’s post. Some reports also suggest that he (Rishabh) will probably be the Test captain after Virat Kohli has resigned from his post recently.
