Virat Kohli’s stars are at all-time low. In Ahmedabad, where the final match was played against West Indies, Virat Kohli was seen reaching or achieving a new position or a new nadir by getting out on zero. This happened when Kohli tried to tap a delivery from Alzarri, but on the leg side was caught by Shai Hope who is the wicket keeper.
As a result of this, Kohli recorded his second-worst performance in the three-match ODI series at home. Earlier this player was seen struggling against Pakistan in 2012/13 where he scored 13 runs at 4.33 for three wickets. Kohli averages 8.66 in the current series.
In your tally reads Kohli’s score in the ongoing series, you will find that Kohli made just 8,18, and then 0. Another worst seen from Kohli was when he was playing against Bangladesh in 2015, where he was seen struggling to make 50 plus.
Including the current zero, Kohli has so far collected the 15th duck overall. He has now surpassed Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina with the most number of ducks in ODIs. Amongst Indian cricketers that to in ODI match, 15 ducks are the highest by the batsman who is at a No. 3. With the highest tally of 16 made by Ricky Ponting, Virat Kohli is just one step to make history.
Kohli is now second only to the great Sachin Tendulkar (34) in the list of most ducks for India. In the final ODI match against WI, India won the toss and decided to bat first. The Indian team was already ahead with 2-0 lead in the ODI three match series. India won its first ODI match by six wickets and the subsequent match by 44 runs.
Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, brushed aside concerns over Virat Kohli’s form, saying the former captain doesn’t need a confidence boost.
Talking to reporters recently, Rohit said
“If Kohli is need of confidence, then who in the team is confident? I know he has not scored a hundred for long but he is getting fifties. Even in South Africa, he hit 2 fifties in 3 matches”
He further added by saying “He doesn’t need any extra confidence. He is absolutely fine. The team management is not at all worried about his form,”.
However, India managed to beat West Indies 3-0 for the first time in their history in the ODI series. Rohit said that he is particularly happy with the performance of the middle order after so many years of questioning the excessive reliance on the top three.
