After India team’s defeat against their opponents South Africa, India must be strategizing what next. Indian batters were at their best in pulling the match but where the loose end was, it was from the bowling end and few miss of catches like Shreyas Iyer did at the deep sparing Van Dussen, who was in his best form.
After winning the toss, the South African team decided to bowl first and the Indian team came out to chase the target.
Taking honors in doing so, the Rishabh-led squad sent two openers in the form of Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad. The two opened well, putting on a beautiful 57-run partnership, but Ruturaj missed a ball in the seventh over and returned to the pavilion after scoring 23 runs in 15 balls.
Then there was a great partnership between Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer which ended on 137 runs from 57 runs. Ishan Kishan was dismissed by Krishna Maharaj in the 13th over. This was the second and biggest wicket of the Proteas team. Shreyas Iyer was also dismissed in the 17th over after scoring 36 runs for 27 runs.
But then came in Hardik Pandya’s partnership with Rishabh Pant that took the total up to 202 when Rishabh Pant was caught near the Deep cover. Now it was the 20th over which was going on and the Hardik Pandya knowing the importance of the hour blistered the more 9 runs and set the total to 2011 with loss of 4 wickets.
At the press conference, Ishan was asked how feels after losing in their first match, he said, that being a world class player, David Miller played really well as he’s in perfect shape and form. He further said,
“We will plan something for these two (Miller and Rassie van der Dussen). I know when Miller gets going, it is very hard to stop him. Same time, it makes it easier for the other batter at the other end. They played amazing shots; we need to figure what mistakes we did. They are world-class players, we need to give them credit also,”
Later he added when asked about Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, he said,
“I think they are world-class players and I would not ask for a spot when they (Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul) are there in the team. My job is to give my best in the practice session. Whenever I get an opportunity, how I prove myself and do well for the team. So, I focus more on that. They have scored so many runs for the country, so I cannot ask to drop them and make me play. I will keep doing my thing, it is up to the selectors and coaches. My job is to give my best whenever I get the chance,”
But all that from Ishan Kishan sounds fine, but what really matters is how the Indian team is going to plan and strategise their next match at the Cuttack stadium in Orissa. Whether KL Rahul will be back or with the same team the action should be expected!!
