India vs South Africa: Five India players to watch out for in the Test series – The Indian cricket team and South Africa are facing each other in a three-match Test series starting in Cape Town on Friday. Both sides have a bunch of star players who are capable of changing the course of the game on their own. As expected, Indian cricket team captain and star batsman Virat Kohli is going to be the main attraction during the three-match series.

This will be his first tour since being relieved of his duties (captain). For the past few years, he has been under the scanner for his poor form. The right-handed batsmen and the former captain have been relieved of their leadership duties in the limited-overs format, which has helped them get back to their form as in their previous tours.

In Centurion, Team Kohli is putting himself in the nets, many videos and pictures of which BCCI is constantly sharing. The BCCI board has discussed things for the upcoming match by sharing pictures of Dravid and Kohli on Twitter. This is an important series for Dravid as it is his first overseas Test tour as the head coach of Indian cricket.

The buoyancy of African pitches is conducive to stroke-play and Kohli would love to play on them.

Former head coach Ravi Shastri (Replaced by Rahul Dravid) has already announced that Shikhar Dhawan will be Murali Vijay’s teammate. Though Vijay has superior technique, Dhawan is someone who can change the course of the match in a single session. This is an important series for Dravid as it is his first overseas test tour as head coach of the Indian cricket.

Cheteshwar Pujara is India’s most technically sound batsman. He is coming off a very successful 2017 where he was second only to Australian captain Steven Smith in terms of the number of runs scored in a calendar year. Since most of the Indian middle-order batsmen are stroke-makers, Pujara takes the responsibility of stabilizing one end with his rock-solid defence.

However, from the bowling side Bhuvneshwar Kumar, along with Mohammed Shami, is expected to open the bowling for India. While Shami missed some of India’s matches last season, Bhuvneshwar has been instrumental in India’s Test victories at home and away. Bhuvi is an exponent of swing and can wreak havoc on the tracks offering help to the fast bowlers. His form is going to be really important for India’s prospects in the series.

Last but not least, the lean bowler Umesh Yadav has the ability to bowl fast and take the ball from a good length to strange heights, however, he did not pick up many wickets last season, he performed on Indian pitches. Very well done which didn’t give him much resistance. His spell against Australia in the second innings of the series decider in Dharamsala deserves special mention.

From the South African team, we can expect Quinton de Kock, AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada to play a key role in the tournament.
