Along with the T20 World Cup 2022, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s squad for the three T20 matches series against Australia and three T20Is, and three ODIs vs South Africa on Monday, September 12. The all-rounder player Hardik Pandya is featured in the squad for T20 World Cup and T20Is vs Australia, but he has been rested to play against South Africa. Rohit Sharma will lead India in all events while KL Rahul will be his assistant.
Pace spearhead Jaspreet Bumrah, MohdShami, and all-rounder Harshal Patel have been named in the squad for all three events in which Shami is named as a standby player for T20 World Cup.
Two days later finishing T20Is vs Australia, India will host the three matches T20 Series against South Africa, the first T20 will be played between both teams in Thiruvananthapuram, and the second to be held in Guwahati on October 2, and the third in Indore on October 4. A day later, Rohit Sharma and Co. will face South Africa again in ODIs. There will be three matches in ODIs, and the first match will be held on October 6 in Lucknow, the second ODI will be played on October 9 in Ranchi, and the final match to be held in the national capital Delhi on October.
Thereafter, team India will start their T20 World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23, and will face South Africa on October 30, then, against Bangladesh on November, thereafter, will play a qualifier on November 6 in Melbourne.
