India team’s coach Rahul Dravid has shown full support for KL Rahul, despite his back-to-back stumbling performance. KL Rahul in total has managed to gather only22 runs in all three matches he has played so far in the world cup and is facing a huge criticism for that. The criticism has reached to such a stage that speculations of him being dropped is also suggested by many.
But always known to be the backbone of Indian cricket, and “The Wall” Rahul Dravid rejects all such discussions and has said that there is no question at all that he (KL Rahul) and Rohit Sharma will not open for the team. Dravid said,
“KL Rahul is a fantastic player, we are confident that he will come back strongly, these conditions has been challenging for the openers in this world. Me and Rohit don’t have absolutely no doubt who will open, I know how much impact KL Rahul can make,” the coach further added in the press conference”
He also added,
“In words and actions, we have shown full support for KL Rahul,”
When questions were asked about the team’s update, the coach acknowledged that yes, the team had made some mistakes in the last game against SA. Especially the fielding which indeed was sloppy. Dravid said that the team needs to improve in order to win their second T20 World Cup.
“Have to play well if we have to do that (win the World Cup). We made mistakes in the last game (vs SA in Perth),”
This conversation was captured by Vikrant Gupta, a journalist by profession.
But also, when asked about an update on Dinesh’s (Dinesh Karthik) condition, Rahul said, he is coming pretty well and has reached the training. Whether he is playing or not can be told on the match day only. (Against Bangladesh on Wednesday)
“Dinesh Karthik is coming pretty well, he has reached for the training, we will take a call tomorrow morning,”
