- The veteran cricketer Kapil Dev speaks about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma
- He calls Virat Kohli a big player comparing him with another veteran like Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, and Virender Sehwag
- Kapil Dev calls Rohit Sharma a brilliant Batsman but it doesn’t score then definitely questions will be raised
The veteran cricketer and the 1983 world cup winner captain Kapil Dev have expressed his concerns over senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma stating he is bothered. Kapil Dev’s statement comes in a time when two players are out for play against England in the leftover fifth test series of last year.
The England vs. India fifth test series will see its commencement from July 1st till July 5th and will be interesting to see both teams that who will take the lead. Already India is leading by 2-1 and if they even lose this series, they might get bothered but might face huge criticism from all over.
The conversation thar Mr. Kapil Dev provided was through a YouTube Channel named as “Uncut”. In the channel, Mr. Dev was told by the anchor that many ask him to not speak about Virat Kohli when he hasn’t played cricket.
The humble Kapil Dev taking his example replied,
“Even I haven’t played cricket as much as Virat Kohli. Then we cannot criticise these players ever, because we haven’t played that much cricket. That is wrong”
Further adding Mr. Dev said,
“We have played cricket and we understand the game. And after understanding the game I feel, somewhere or the other, they need to correct their own thought process, not ours”
Mr. Dev said that if somebody does not score runs that too for a longer period then definitely there must be problem somewhere,
“Maybe there is too much cricket. If there is too much cricket talk to yourself and if there is too less cricket, then also talk to yourself,”
He further expressed that everyone sees at only one’s performance and if that performance isn’t there for display and how many people can you stop from talking. When asked about Virat’s century drought, Mr. Dev said,
“I am also asking the same thing: Such a big player and such a big gap. I am also bothered with it because he is like a hero to us. We used to think that we can never find a player to compared to Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag. But Kohli forced us to compare him with them. But last two years he has not done so. Hence, I am bothered. I think mentally he needs to improve his cricket.”
While being asked about Rohit Sharma, Kapil referred him to be a brilliant batsman but even after playing 14 matches continuously, one isn’t able to score a fifty so whether be it Don Bradman, Gary Sobers, Sachin Tendulkar, Vivian Richards there will be question marks. Only Sharma can answer what is happening with him.
