We all have friends in life, some have a bunch like an entire city but some have friends like a pearl in a shell with one or two. The point is we all have friends and the same do the cricketers we see on the field. Here in this article, we showcase some of the everlasting friendships both on and off the field irrespective of the age that they are in today. So, hold onto your seats and cherish the beautiful event of Friendship Day with us.

  1. Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir

The duo known for their fierce cricketing style are also the best buddies on and off field. Coincidently, both belong from Delhi and we expect their friendship to have bloomed from then and there itself. At the time of their playing in test cricket, Gautam and Virender have scored 3854 runs out of 70 innings which surprisingly stands 11th in the test history.

Another great achievement when it comes to these two cricketers is that they scored at least a 100-run partnership in all of the formats together. They got their first chance to open with each other, when Sachin Tendulkar wasn’t available, which eventually became the most successful partnership in the history of cricket in India.

Who doesn’t know about their bromance, which started in the year 2011 when they both met during the IPL? Both coming from very different background and nationality has a special place for each other in their hearts. And why we say so is because at the time when AB de Villiers was about to retire, he hinted at Kohli several times but at the time of the realization. Aby took his retirement. This piece of the story was explained by Virat himself interview probably before the IPL was on the verge of its start.

The friendship between the Virat and Ab De Villiers was quite evident which is not only off-field but also on field where during several IPL matches, they were seen as nightmares for many bowlers. One of the most iconic matches played by the duo was back in 2016 against Gujarat Lions when the duo took their batting skills to a whole new level. Adding to your surprise, both took just 97 balls to take their partnership to 229 runs which remains the highest ever built partnership by any two batsmen in the IPL.

  • KL Rahul and Mayank Agrawal

The two stars of the Indian cricket team, who not only hail from the same city of Bangalore, but also are chuddy-buddy friends. Surprisingly their friendship took so much of coincidences that they were even selected in the same IPL team i.e., Punjab Kings. Later what the story became, doesn’t deny the fact that their friendship is over. Till date they are best friends and hold responsibility and captaincy of two teams in the IPL. During the IPL 2022, there came a situation of bonding between the two, which Mayank replied in his own style stating,

“As friends, we have a strong bond. He’s been on my journey, and I’ve been on his. Even though we may be battled for the same spot down the road, it’s been incredibly good to have that type of camaraderie.”
