Dinesh Karthik Was Highly Motivated To Come And Do Well: Mike Hesson reveals why RCB signed Dinesh Karthik for IPL 2022

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)’s cricket operations director Mike Hesson revealed the selection of Dinesh Karthik for the IPL-2022 season. He said that the team management found that the veteran wicketkeeper batter was highly motivated to come to the team and do well.

Karthik had scored 330 runs in 16 matches at an unbelievable strike rate of 183.33 in this year’s IPL season. He had stoked 1 brilliant half-century in the same IPL and his highest score was 66 (not out). His average of 55 was higher than top-level batter Virat Kohli (22.7) and Rohit Sharma (19.4). Overall, he had played a pivotal finishing role for RCB.

He has made a comeback on the national instant before, though, not his time. Even before former India captain MS Dhoni, Karthik made his debut. Finally, he is still playing in the national team.

The right-handed batter, who showed his brilliance in the recent West Indies tour. He performed a memorized knock for the Indian team against the Caribbean in the first T20 of five matches series. The expert says that he has a big capability of winning finish knock.

Mike Hesson said, “DK came from the wilderness. We discussed offering guidelines and roles. So, he could plan for realistic objectives. The output is there for everyone to see, not only in the IPL but also national team side well,” in an interview with an English leading Daily.

“Before the auction, we moved to DK and felt [that] he was highly motivated to come and do well for the team. He wanted to come on board and push his case to play for India with a specific role. Once we found he was a highly motivated player who wanted to do better, work incredibly hard and we also needed a finisher like him, we both came on board,” Hesson added.

Hesson, the former New Zealand coach further stated that Karthik ended the team’s search for an amazing finisher the job which AB de Villiers used to do for the team, Karthik also did in the IPL.

The 37-year-old Indian star had played many buzzing knocks, but in the match against SRH, he had scored 30 runs off 8 balls which is still his best in this year’s IPL.

The veteran wicketkeeper batter had recently hit 41 runs off 19 balls in the first T20 of five matches series against West Indies, In the match, the Indian star batter Rohit Sharma also scored a brilliant half-century (64 off 44 balls.). Both the Indian champions had helped India to win.
