The main and only difference between these three balls is stitching. Kookaburra is a machine-stitched ball with two outer rows and two inner rows of threads. The balls stitched with hands are more prominent and long-lasting. Mostly, the swing bowlers prefer Duke balls instead of Kookaburra or SG.

Weather Conditions

The condition of pitch and weather plays an important role in deciding the type of ball to play in the tournament. Perhaps, it can be the reason for the evolution of cricket balls. The weather and ground conditions in England are suited to swing bowling. Australian ground is bouncy. So, they prefer Kookaburra to play, which is more suited to that land, though it loses its original shape after some time.

Cricketer’s Choice

It also depends on the cricketer’s interest as once Jaspreet Bumrah said that he enjoys playing with Duke balls; because it generates the swing better than SG and Kookaburra. Virat Kohli has the positive opinion about duke balls that it suits Test match cricket worldwide. R. Ashwin is a spinner who preferred Kookaburra.
