Since the COVID cases are on the rise, especially inside the Delhi Capitals team, fans all around have started the trend of cancelling the IPL this season.
The hilarious incident began after Patrick Farhart, who is the physiotherapist of the Delhi Capitals team, tested positive last Friday. Just after he came positive, the entire team was asked not to leave their hotel rooms until the test was done and the report came negative. But at that point of time, the test report that came out turned out to be negative and allowed the DC team to face the RCB team the next day (Saturday).
This COVID scare eventually prompted fans from all around to trigger hilarious reactions on social media in the form of “Cancel IPL”. The hilarious battle took place, especially between fans of Mumbai Indians/Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants/Gujarat Titans. It was like a team double match between the fans.
While the idea of canceling IPL was great for MI and CSK team fans, the same idea was opposed by fans of LSG and GT teams. Check out some funny reactions and posts from fans on Twitter,
One of the twitter user writes,
“Let’s cancel IPL. Health is most important than tournament 💯”
Yash Jain, who is another Twitter user writes,
Hahahaha!! That’s really funny.
Well, coming back to the COVID Case Scenario, the total number cases found inside the DC team has reached 5 which included the Australian Pacer Mitchel Marsh, A team Doctor, a Social Media Member. It really a concern for the team as the number of cases have grown within a short time of 3-4 days.
Actually, the precaution could have been taken from the time when the first case emerged in the form Patrick Farhart. Although, the rest team member was declared negative at the time but how this time the cases have drastically increased is a matter of questioning!!
God forbid, if the match that was played between the RCB and DC teams on Saturday could have affected the RCB team players as well. This is just a hypothetical scenario, but question still is there about, What if?
On the event of rising COVID cases inside the team and the condition of Mitchell Marsh, the DC team released an official statement saying,
“Delhi Capitals all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has tested positive for COVID-19, following which he has been admitted to a hospital. The Delhi Capitals medical team is closely monitoring Marsh’s condition”
The travel of the DC team to Pune on Monday for Wednesday’s match was in dilemma due to the unfortunate event, and is also doubtful that whether the team will be allowed to play any further. Despite all of our worry, the BCCI officials are confident in order to stop the spread stating,
“the match won’t be impacted if further tests return negative”
Seeing the decline in cases, the government of India has relaxed social distancing guidelines, and also allowing stadium with 50 percent strength capacity. According to IPL rule book, if a team is affected and is not in condition to bring on all 12 players on the field (with 7 Indians), will be considered to be unfit and can schedule their match later on.
We wish the Delhi Capitals team a speedy recovery and come back to entertain us all again.
