- Babar responding to Dinesh Karthik’s statement said, definitely for any player to become the number one player in all formats requires hard work
After Dinesh Karthik days back comment on Babar Azam, the Pakistani player finally gets time to respond to the player’s statement. After playing a brilliant season in the IPL Dinesh Karthik recently earned his national call again and is extremely excited about it. Dinesh while talking about Fab 4 list of cricketers comprising of Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Joe Root and Steve Smith said that the Pakistani captain too can get his name added in the list if he keeps up with his consistency, he would be the best in the world.
“One-hundred percent (Babar is capable of achieving that),” Karthik said on The ICC Review. “He is a high-quality player who is at the peak of his batting prowess and he has got some Test matches coming up. He has been phenomenal in all three formats of the game and he has done well in different batting positions too. I wish him all the best and think he has the potential. He has got all the following of Pakistan helping him in abundance to go on and do special things for his country.”
A reporter when asked Babar about the statement Dinesh for him of being the number 1 and so on and if is there anything to add to it and whether he can achieve of what is expected off? He (Babar) said,
“Definitely, as a player it’s a dream to become the No. 1 in all formats and for that, you have to focus and put in hard work. It’s not like if you are the top player in 1 or 2 formats, you go easy. If you are to become No.1 in all three, you have to keep yourself fit and on track. There is back-to-back cricket and the gap is less. For that, you need to be extra fit. It’s something I am preparing for. It’s going well in white-ball and hopefully, I will be able to do well in Tests too.”
With 891 and 818 points, Babar Azam, the skipper of the Pakistan Men’s team stands on the first spot in the ICC’s list of players whereas it is the test only he stands 5th next to Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Joe Root and Kane Williamson.
