The Indian team’s former player, Aakash Chopra is quite optimistic about Virat Kohli’s performance with the upcoming Asia Cup 2022. He believes that the tournament is an ideal setup for the player to play freely.

Asia Cup 2022, is beginning from 27th August and a day after which is 28th August, Team India will face their first battle against their arch-rivals, the Pakistan team. Indeed, it will be an interesting match as the two after a year will be seen facing each other. But do you know, that more than the match, the eyes of every cricket fan will be on the star batter, Virat Kohli, why? Because everybody wants him to score a three digit number once again which Virat hasn’t been from the past 3 years.

But for the former Team India’s player, Aakash Chopra, his anticipation especially towards Kohli making runs or so. He says,

“I am not sure how Virat is feeling or how the team is feeling, but as a watcher, I have decreased my expectations. The reason is that no one on this team, in my opinion, would play for a hundred. Whether it is Rohit Sharma or KL Rahul, they both start swinging the bat as soon as they reach 50.”

He added further,

“You want to travel there if 220 is feasible. Do not be content with 210, 190, or 180. A player is given the freedom to play freely if the team bats with that mentality. If so, I will not be evaluating a player based on statistics”

Despite not expecting much,  Aakash slowly added that the player in the given situation, it is ideal for Virat to at least avoid 70-100 to complete the match.

In the Asia Cup 2022 tournament, in total 6 teams will be participating with like of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the sixth team will join after a qualifier match between UAE, Hong-Kong, Singapore, Kuwait whoever wins.
