IPL is the most favorite format of cricket and most of the cricket followers adore this format a lot. It will be a 15th season of IPL 2022. The dates and venues are yet to finalize.

All the matches of the 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) can be played in the same city Mumbai. An important meeting of BCCI office-bearers was held a day earlier, in which everyone agreed that in the current situation, it is right to organize IPL 2022 completely in Mumbai.

The decision to conduct IPL in Mumbai has been taken because the cases of corona have been reduced here. Earlier, in a meeting with all the franchise owners, the BCCI had decided to keep the option of holding IPL 2022 in South Africa open.

February 20 is the deadline for finalizing the venue. On this day, BCCI can make a formal announcement to organize the entire league in Mumbai.

A source from BCCI told the English newspaper The Telegraph, “We are not looking beyond Mumbai at the moment. The peak of the third wave of the COVID has come in many cities and now the pace of infection has started decreasing. In such a situation, there is no point in holding tournaments abroad. Already three Wankhede, Brabourne, and Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil stadiums have been shortlisted for IPL 2022. If needed, Pune will also be used as a venue.

Mumbai’s 3 stadiums shortlisted

An advantage of holding IPL 2022 in and around Mumbai would be that teams would not have to travel by air, which was considered a major reason for corona infiltration inside the bio-bubble last year. If needed, the Bandra Kurla Stadium, which hosts home matches, can be used for training and practice facilities.

The 3 venues in Mumbai that have been shortlisted for IPL 2022. It is easy to maintain Bio-Bubble in this. Because there are many five-star hotels around these stadiums. In such a situation, the movement of players will be within a certain limit.

IPL may start from March 27

Earlier, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had also said that the BCCI will try its best to organize the IPL in India. If sources are to be believed, IPL 2022 can start from March 27 this year. This time 10 teams will be seen playing in the league instead of 8.

Two new teams are associated with Lucknow Super giants and Ahmedabad League. Soon the Ahmedabad franchise will also announce the name of its team. The mega auction of IPL 2022 will be held on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.
