Time is irreversible and anyone who can begin has to end in one form or the other. Don’t worry we aren’t here talking about somebody’s death but about 5-Indian players, who most probably would take SANYAAS (Retirement) from international cricket. And the names are:

Ravichandran Ashwin – The 36-year-old cricketer, is an old name now in Indian Cricket and needs no introduction. Recently, since a few series, the cricketer has been in his best form but still has the potential to be a matter of fear for many cricketers around the world. Let looks at his stats:

  • He is an excellent cricketer with 442 wickets in the longest format of the game (test) and also 10,666 runsunder his name
  • In ODI’s he has taken 151 wickets out of 113 matches with an economy rate of the best 4.94
  • In T20s, the player has taken 66 wickets out of 59 matches and at an economy rate of 6.80

Reason why we see him bidding a goodbye from international cricket?

  • First is his growing age
  • Second is his dipping form with lots of alternatives in the line
  • Thirdly, he is a cricketer who has sound knowledge of Cricket and so, we see him as a coach, or even in the internal part of the BCCI

Dinesh Karthik – The player also named as ‘DK’ is enjoying every bit of his life currently to be at the finisher’s role. Dinesh Karthik, is currently on the tour towards Australia for the T20 World Cup and will support his team, at the middle order along with Hardik Pandya. The 37-year-old has time and again proved his mettle for his team and since long has been a great finisher.

Stats time:

  • Test Format – Due to lack of opportunities in the test, the player has only 1025 runs under his name in the test cricket which is from 26 matches and SR of 49.27
  • ODI Cricket – Again not so much, but has 1752 runs out of 94 matches and SR of 73.24
  • T20I format – Here is where the game changes for the cricketer. His total number runs under the format is 6927 runs out of 369 matches and a good SR of 135.61.

Reason why we see him bidding a goodbye from international cricket?

  • Foremostly, his growing age.
  • Secondly, many alternate options are against him.

Rohit Sharma – Now the name that you see needs probably no introduction and we are not very sure whether the player will or will not announce his retirement post T20 World Cup. And the reason behind such uncertainty is the ODI world Cup in 2023 and besides Rohit Sharma, there is no other face that can fill his place and secondly is his age and therefore, there are 50-50 chances that the player will retire after the T20 World Cup.

Stats Time:

  • Test Format – In test cricket, Rohit has scored in total 3137 runs off 45 matches and with an average and Strike rate of 46.13 and 55.76, respectively.
  • ODI Format – In ODIs, Rohit has scored in total 9376 runs off 233 matches and with an average and Strike rate of 64.37 and 74.1 respectively.
  • T20 Format – In T20 format, the player has scored 830 runs so far out of 401 matches and with an average and Strike rate of 28.62 and 21.8 respectively.

Reason why we see him bidding a goodbye from international cricket?

  • His growing age which is 35 years

Mohammed Shami– The terrific right-hand bowler with great in-out swinging abilities, we can say would be the fourth Indian player who might announce his retirement. But in his case again we are 50-50 sure, why. Because, the player is just in his early 30s and secondly, has good bowling depth.

Stats Time

  • Test Format- Being a star bowler of the team, the player has taken in total 216 wickets from 60 matches and has scored 5931 runs with an average, Strike rate and economy rate of 27.45, 50.1 and 3.28, respectively.
  • ODI Format – In the ODI format, Shami has taken 152 wickets off 82 matches with an average, Strike rate and economy rate of 25.72, 27.5 and 5.60, respectively.
  • T20 Format – He has taken 156 runs off 133 matches with an average, Strike rate and economy rate of 25.25, 18.2 and 8.28 respectively.

Reason why we see him bidding a goodbye from international cricket?

  • Multiple Bowling options against him
  • Not much of chances he’s been getting over the years

Shikhar Dhawan – Last but not least, we would not be able to see Shikhar Dhawan in international Cricket anymore. The outstanding southpaw despite his underperformance against the Proteas in the 3-match ODI series led the team to win it by 2-1 but it does mean the 36-year-old opener batsman would like to continue his career in the future. Recently, news has also emerged that he is going to make his debut in Bollywood.

Stats Time

  • Test Format – In the longest format, the player has made 2315 runs off 34 matches with an average and Strike rate of 40.61 and 66.94, respectively.
  • ODI format – In the ODI format, the player has scored 6672 runs off 161 matches with an average and Strike rate of 45.08 and 91.78, respectively.
  • T20 Format– In the T20 format, the player has scored a glorious 9235 runs off 317 matches with an average and Strike rate of 32.74 and 124.67, respectively.

Reason why we see him bidding a goodbye from international cricket?

  • His growing age i.e., 36 years
  • Not much of opportunities in other formats than ODI’s
  • Was seen making his debut in Bollywood, which could be seen as backup after retirement.
