2. Rahul Dravid(164 matches)

India’s current coach Rahul Dravid is at number one in terms of playing the most Test matches. As per the statistics, Dravid made his debut against England in 1996 and played his last match against Australia in 2012. In 286 innings of 164 Tests, Dravid has scored 13288 runs at an average of 52.31. During this, his bat has scored 36 centuries and 63 half-centuries. His highest score is 270 runs.

3. VVS Lakshman(134 matches)

VVS Laxman, who has made a mark for his artistic batting, is in third place of highest match-playing Indian. He made his debut in 1996 against South Africa and played his last match against Australia in 2012.

In 225 Test innings, Laxman has scored 8781 runs at an average of 45.97. He has 17 centuries and 56 half-centuries to his name. Laxman has been not out 34 times in his career. He used to bat at number five, so he has fewer centuries to his name. His highest score is 281 runs.

4. Anil Kumble(132 matches)

India’s legendary leg spinner Anil Kumble has played 132 matches for India. In 1990, he played the first test match against England. In 2008, Kumble played his last match against Australia.

Kumble, who has bowled in 236 innings for India, has taken 619 wickets in his name. He is the only Indian bowler to have taken all the wickets in an innings. At the same time, he is the second bowler in the world to do this feat. Kumble has taken 35 five-wicket hauls and eight ten-wicket hauls in Test cricket.

5. Kapil Dev(131 matches)

The former captain of the Indian Cricket team Kapil Dev made India the world champion for the first time, is at number five in terms of playing the most Test matches.

He made his Test debut in 1978 against Pakistan. At the same time, he played his last Test match against New Zealand in 1994. During this, Kapil did wonders with both the ball and the bat. Kapil scored 5248 runs in 184 innings with the bat at an average of 31.05. This includes eight centuries and 27 half-centuries. His highest score is 163 runs.

6. Sunil Gawaskar(125 matches)

Sunil Gavaskar is belongs to the era of Kapil Dev. He played his first match against West Indies in 1971 and the last match of his career against Pakistan in 1987. During this, he scored 10122 runs in 214 innings of 125 matches. In this, his average was 51.12.

Gavaskar has scored 34 centuries and 45 half-centuries. He holds the record of playing 106 consecutive matches for India. Gavaskar is at number four in terms of scoring the most runs as a captain in a series, simultaneously. He scored 732 runs against West Indies while captaining India.

7. Dilip Vengsarkar(116 matches)

Dilip Vengsarkar, who started his Test career against New Zealand in 1976, has played 116 matches for India. His last match was against Australia in 1992. He has scored 6868 runs in 185 innings at an average of 42.13. Vengsarkar has 17 centuries and 35 half-centuries to his name.

His highest score is 166 runs. Vengsarkar is also included in the list of batsmen who were dismissed for zero in their 100th Test. He has opened the innings for India with both bat and ball in the same match.

8. Saurav Ganguly (113 matches)

Sourav Ganguly has played more than 100 Tests for India. He made his Test debut in 1996 against England.

After this, he played his last Test against Australia in 2008. During this, Ganguly scored 7212 runs in 188 innings of 113 matches at an average of 42.17. He has scored 16 centuries and 35 half-centuries in Test cricket. With the ball, he has taken 32 wickets in 99 innings.

9. Ishan Sharma(105 matches)

Ishant Sharma, who has played 105 Tests, is the only player from India, who has played more than 100 matches and has not announced his retirement yet.

He made his debut in 2007 against Bangladesh. At the same time, he played his last Test against New Zealand in 2021. Ishant may not have announced his retirement yet, but he is not a part of the Indian team in the Test series against Sri Lanka.

Ishant has taken 311 wickets in 105 Tests for India. He has achieved the feat of taking 10 wickets once in 11 five-wicket hauls.

10. Virendra Sehwag(104 matches)

Former India opener Virender Sehwag has played 104 Test matches. He played his first match against South Africa in 2001 and his last match against Australia in 2013.

During this, he scored 8586 runs in 180 innings at an average of 49.34. His highest score is 319 runs. He has 23 centuries 50 half-centuries to his name. Sehwag is the first Indian player to score a triple century in Tests. He has also taken 40 wickets with the ball for India. Sehwag is the first in the list of most triple centuries in Tests.

11. Harbhajan Singh(103 matches)

Harbhajan Singh, who played 103 Tests for India, started his career in 1998 against Australia. In 2015, Bhajji played his last Test against Sri Lanka. During this, he took 417 wickets in 190 innings.

He has done 25 five-wicket hauls and five five-wicket hauls. Harbhajan has played many useful innings with the bat as well. He has scored 2224 runs in 145 innings at an average of 18.22. His highest score is 115 and he has two centuries and nine half-centuries to his name.
